Stock Show

So we ended up at the Stock Show, a very popular time every January here in Denver and we had never been! I knew that the kids, especially Bailey, would love to see all the animals. The best quote of the day was from her... "Mom, can you tell Dad that this is the pony I want?"

A saturday mystery

We are experiencing another long weekend with Kevin away for hockey. This one comes right on the heels of a really long one last weekend. So I wanted to do something fun with the kids today. I was thinking that we would have a postcard day.

For those of you that do not know what our "postcard days" are all about, they started out a few years ago during the summer school break. At the beginning of the summer I purchased 8 postcards of local denver attractions: downtown, capital building, Coors field, 16th street mall, the zoo, airport, red rocks, etc. On Fridays Tthe kids and I would turn the postcards over so that the pictures were faced down and we would blindly choose one. Whichever one we chose we would go to that day making an adventure out of it. Would we be able to find the exact things shown in the picture? What could we learn about it that we didn't know before? We loved our postcard days!

Well, the postcards have run out, but there are still so many things around Denver that we have not seen or experienced. So when we have a day like today, I pack everyone up, and we head out to discover something new.

Where will we end up today? I'm not sure yet, but I know it will be fun!

Layouts

I haven't shown you any layouts recently. It's not because I haven't been doing them, it is because I haven't been finishing them. Tonight I finally got the journaling done on these few...

Questions

I am sure there is a word for it and maybe you all can help us define it. We experience it here quite often but aren't real sure what to call it.

Here is an example of it...

You have a child that is involved in an activity that they enjoy. It is about time for them to go, but they have not yet started their homework.

Are you ready to go?

Yes

Have you done your homework yet?

No

Well then you can't go.

Okay.

Just okay... no stoppage of playing... no mood change... no action to correct the situation...just okay.

We call these "Baileyisms" for lack of a better word.

A lost tooth!!!

The red bee lost her first tooth!!!

Last Saturday I was taking a little nap and I overheard her tell brother that something was bleeding. Usually the next step when something is bleeding is coming to get mom to put a bandaid on.

I waited.

No one came.

Hum... what is going on?

Then she comes up. "Mom, my tooth is loose and it is bleeding." I sit up and look at her. Sure enough, it is loose and bleeding. I give it a tug but it is still not ready. She goes back to playing.

We work on it all day, but it is still not quite ready yet.

The next morning, she wakes up and goes in the bathroom. Sits in the sink with some toilet paper in her hand wiggling and wiggling it. It pops right out and promptly drops down the sink drain.

Oh, no! She is not as upset as mom was. I even took apart the plumbing looking for it.

No tooth.

So sad. But luckily the tooth fairy came anyways.

I guess she understands these things.
