Halloween 2010

Dillon had a hockey tournament in Aspen this past weekend. We were there Friday and got home early afternoon yesterday, just in time to carve pumpkins and enjoy trick or treating at home.

Only the girls went trick or treating this year. D never got a chance to make his idea for a costume, a can of toxic waste, and to top it off, he had a horrible headache. He was content to stay home and answer the door.
B was a sailor girl and A was a flapper. She didn't know what a flapper was, but she didn't care. It was a pink dress that shook when she twirled.

(they were nice enough to share their booty with D)
As for D's hockey weekend, the team was amazing! They showed so much improvement and really played well together. They had 4 games- winning 2 and losing 2. On Saturday morning, they played a team called Boulder Navy. D was in net and faced something like 32 shots, saving all but three. They lost 3-0.

Sunday morning, they are in the semi-final game and it just so happens that they are facing the same team. Unbeknownst to the other team, Kevin had had the team watch their game Saturday afternoon in order to see what they did well and where they needed work. When we played again, it showed! The score at the end of regulation was tied 4-4. It was an amazing game that was now heading into sudden death overtime! 5 minutes later the score was the same. Now they had to go into a shoot out. Each team had 5 players take a shot on the other team's goalie. It was so exciting, but I was crying with worried for D. We scored once, but they scored twice. In all, D saw over 40 shots in that game, while the other goalie saw maybe 24.

Although we lost, it felt like a win. It was a great battle.

Tara, you are SUCH a good hockey mom. Seriously. I am so impressed at how much you get involved and understand the game. Often I feel like you are writing in another language when you write about hockey and it makes me so impressed that you know how to speak it! Dillon is one lucky little goalie. Do you have a close up of him in his goalie duds? I just don't believe that he's really in there. ;)
