Time for some Fun in the SUN!

Why is it always when you are getting ready to leave on vacation that thing go wrong? Somthing important breaks, a child gets sick, you have much in the way of homework due....

So this week as we have been preparing for our Beach trip, we have experienced one sick kid, one allergic reaction, one meltdown (me), 2 papers due, one book database due, and one thematic unit that will be due the day after I get home. But on the positive side of things, my house got cleaned, a really fun library trip happened, clothes got washed, but not folded yet. Not too bad.

So Avery woke up Tuesday morning with a little cough and sneezing. Great, one day in a day care center while I was at jury duty, and she comes home sick. Luckily it's not too bad. She is sleeping really well, and only a little extra whiney.

On Wednesday Bailey fell into a pine bush on our way to Karate lessons. Bailey is allergic to pine. I never really thought past Christmas trees, because it has not been a big issue. Fresh tree in the house, sick kid. I have never seen pine actually imbedded into her skin before. Well- it really wasn't pretty. Literally one minute after her fall, her finger was two times it's original size. It swelled up so fast, and was all blue... I would have sworn that she had broken it, but then I remembered her allergy. We rushed over to the grocery store and got some medicine. After an hour, it already looked much better.

Today, I had 2 papers due in my class. I stayed up late last night and got one done. Today I tried to work on the second one while many a youngester ran while in the house. Granted they were my youngesters, but that did not stop me from having a controlled breakdown! I very calmly picked up the whiney one, and walked out the front door. Seriously.

I went to the neighbor, knocked on her door, and said "can I impose on you for 1/2 hour?" Then proceded to hand over whiney one. The others had followed me out the door to see where I was going. I left them behind as well and came home to a quiet house where I was able to swear at the computer quite loudly. The second paper was finished in this manner.

I have turned in my book database and am currently working on my thematic unit. Who knows, I may even get packed before I have to leave tomorrow!
