Addicted

Yep, we have an addict in our house. Okay, maybe more than one. I have admitted before and I am not ashamed. Ice cream is my friend. Could be my best friend... any who... on to the other addict.

The other night I was attempting to make a birthday dinner for Kevin when he arrived home. Avery was going crazy in the kitchen. Screaming, falling, crying, general craziness. Kevin picks her up and she clings to him like there is no tomorrow. We think... so sweet. Daddy's little girl.

He tries to put her down. No go. More screaming, more tears.

He finally asks me "what is up with her?"

She is hungry. She sees me cooking, and wants to eat NOW!

He deals with it for about a minute more before he decides that she can no longer wait to eat.

He goes to the closet... pulls out a box... her eyes glaze over and the grin appears.

"Yuky Charms"

"Yuky CHARMS"

"YUKY CHARMS!"

She flies to the table while exclaiming about her beloved cereal.

The kid loves her charms.

Today I pick her up from "playing with friends", her little playgroup daycare and on the way home she falls asleep. We get home, I extract her from her seat, and she mumbles in her sleep "yuky charms."

Oye. This is why I never bought sugar cereal for the other two. I guess your standards change by the third child.

Those standards do relax, don't they? When Jon took Madeline and her frozen cubes of homemade baby food to a friend's house when she was tiny, his friend's wife, mother of three (now four, but I digress) said, "Oh, yeah-- I remember making baby food for the first one! By the second and third, it's M&Ms at six months!"

So true, so true...

LOL that's too funny! Although I completely understand her addiction..I always ate the marshmallows (is that what the are?? because I really HATE marshmallows but there is something about those hard, dyed clumps of sweetness that make my toes curl) first and the rest later..when I had to.
Yes, standards do change by the third...I think thats when reality sets in :-P
