quandry...

I have done it to myself once again. Really! When am I going to learn?

No, this little maltzu (maltese/shih tzu) guy is not ours.... yet.

This is my thinking... When we do not have a pet for the most part it's great. No extra clean up, no worries when we take off for a day or a week, no extra costs, but...

for some reason I feel like I am missing something. Something small. Something fluffy.

I know, I know... small dog??? But it seems easier for some reason. This breed is a very low shed dog. Not a yipper or barker like some little dogs. Great with families. Great with kids. No breaking out of the yard and hurting themselves issues. And this one is male and a puppy, so no surprise litters to care for.

A puppy means training, but then the training is all me so the dog that I get is the dog I create. Then again, it's all me....

Only a few weeks left before all my classes are done and then I have the summer home (less my vacation time at the beach of course).

But the fall brings on student teaching.

HELP!!! Please give me some honest feedback!

I'm with with Rachel. I'm a dog lover too. We now have one big dog and one little. If you end up getting the little cutie, you know I would be more than happy to take care of him whenever you need!

I feel like Abby showed you how hard dogs can be, and since you would still love a dog after your time with Abby, then I would say you are a hopeless dog lover! Embrace it. Buy the calendars, get puppy screen savers, and go ahead and get the pooch too.

No. Be strong. Yes, he's cute. Yes, he'd be fun to have around. But remember midnight puppy pee runs? Where will he stay if Kelly's not available? Remember having to make arrangements before you go anywhere? Dog hair dustbunnies (even from low-shed dogs-- it's not bald, after all)? Messes of all kinds-- vomit, indoor accidents, doggie diarrhea?

I don't want to be harsh, and I know I'll probably be the only dissenting voice, but remember how HARD it can be.

Ask Rachel about chewed-up shoes, chewed up everything else... And I seem to recall Kelly having some stories, too.

Just sayin'.

For some reason last Pm when I couldn't get to sleep my mind was on Abbie, Max,Brownie,Benji and Annie. I was wondering when the doggie hunger would strike you. Immagine my surprise this morning (I mean besides the fresh snowfall) when I saw this cute face. I spent 1/2 day last week and $10. at the laundry washing and drying the dog puke out of our comforter. Dogs are a mixed blessing. I spend much more time w/ this dog, do everthing for her and she lives only for your Dad. We feel guilty when we leave her-we have started taking her w/ us everywhere. It costs a fortune for the dog sitter when we go on vacation. Did I mention that I love her to death. I just never pictured you w/ a pocket sized dog.

I said yes to a teenager, you really think I could give unbiased opinion about a cute puppy...get the dog

I came back to check the tide of public opinion, sure I'd be on the short side... and I am.

But, then, you weren't looking for a dissenting opinion when you asked for feedback, were you? 'Cause you KNOW people are suckers for such a cute face.

Sounds like you are glutin for punishment. I for one am a dog lover and we have enjoyed the freedom of no dogs, no messes, no vet bills, no dog hair and the ability to GO when we want for how long we want. Just a thought. I know how hard it is to fight the desire to nuture, but maybe you should take a break with all the other activities in your life. Man, I sound like my mom! Good luck with your decision... Let me know what you name him... Billie
